Educational research can play a leading role in imaginatively and creatively constructing our education futures with the bricolage from past and present, and from research, policy and practice. Tensions between competing interests challenge educational researchers and practitioners alike, and give rise to the more general concern of what it means to exercise leadership, and what, as individuals and communities of practice, we stand for in such circumstances.
