Beskrivelse

Fieldwork didactics and education for sustainable development are integral parts of geography teacher training, however, often taught separately. Fieldwork in nature offers a wide range of opportunities to experience nature and nature bildung is considered a central concept of education for sustainable development. In addition, research shows that nature connection is considered as an important factor in terms of sustainable, responsible actions (Grund & Brock, 2020, Mayer and Frantz 2004; Roczen 2011).
We will present a cooperation project between the University of Education Ludwigsburg and KP Copenhagen to show how nature bildung theory and geographical fieldwork didactics could be combined to foster nature bildung in geographical fieldwork courses in teacher training education. Five student groups designed each a three-hour fieldwork assignment in the UNESCO Geopark Odsherred. Students were expected to design their field trip locations based on pedagogical and didactical theories. The project was evaluated under the question of how to conceptualize geographical fieldwork in teacher training to promote nature bildung in a double didactic way. A questionnaire, field notes, students' handouts and group interviews conducted after the project serve as data material. Our talk presents central results of the study.
