Beskrivelse
This session is presenting the experiences of the Danish project ‘ultra:bit’ in developing a virtual, interactive learning event for thousands of school children.Coronavirus made it impossible to facilitate this year’s popular ‘ultra:bit camps’ where teachers and children show up physically in selected cities around Denmark. Despite this, 4th, 5th and 6th graders were not missing out at all.
In September 2020 ‘ultra:bit’ was joined by 15,000 kids in 17 virtual learning events called ‘ultra:bit LIVE.’
All the children participated in the events online while staying in their own classrooms. Beforehand, they had all been working with the challenge of creating their own ‘super animal’ by merging two superpowers of existing animals and using technology as a tool to bring the super animal alive.
More than 1700 super animals were created by enthusiastic kids, and in the 17 virtual learning events, the children were presented for many interesting super animals as well as fun competitions and cool experiments using technology.
This session was recorded live on 5 December 2020 at micro:bit LIVE 2020 virtual.
