In the workshop, we present mapping as a sensitive way to explore the lifeworld and the experiences of socially excluded adults through qualitative interviews. Based on our extensive research with people who use drugs and people experiencing homelessness, we show how different kinds of mapping can help interviewees to express themselves and make it possible to investigate phenomena that often are overlooked or difficult to formulate in words. We also discuss possible challenges/pitfalls of using mapping. The workshop includes hands-on work with mapping and dialogue about conducting qualitative interviews with socially excluded adults.
