Abstract

In recent years, the Danish early childhood pedagogy, which traditionally has been conducted in very diverse (and methodologically independent) institutions, has changed rather dramatically. A new type of commercially initiated pedagogical methods and programmes have emerged, often initiated (and bought) by municipalities, imposing them as “evidence-based” concepts to all day-care facilities in the region. In this session, the focus is on mapping and understanding this phenomenon, presenting a research study that partly investigates what methods, programs and concepts that are popular throughout Denmark, and partly identifying the characteristics and common denominators of these concepts.
