Abstract
The aim of the article is to discuss how action research can contribute to the development of inclusive, socially just and community-oriented pedagogical practices in early childhood education (ECEC) and to shared knowledge production about relations between ECEC and local communities. The article discusses how communities might be involved in pedagogical development work, and how these involvement processes in turn affect (understandings of) children’s lives, communities, and ECEC.
