Personal profile

Research and development areas

I am a PhD student on the project “Children as Active Agents in Record Creation.” In the project, I examine how children and young people who are subject to an active child welfare case experience participating in the production of written documents about themselves. The project builds on my previous work on developing alternative documentation practices among professionals; however, its distinctive focus is on children’s and young people’s own experiences of writing and documentation.

The study involves ethnographic fieldwork conducted at three sites where children and young people reside for extended periods of time. Theoretically, the project draws on narrative theory and positioning theory. The project is anchored at Roskilde University (RUC) and University College Copenhagen (KP), with Hanne Warming as principal supervisor and Ann‑Karina Eske Henriksen as co‑supervisor. It is funded by the Welfare and Research Fund for Pedagogues, the Tryg Foundation, the Åse and Ejner Danielsen Foundation, and Roskilde University.

I am the project manager for the ongoing research project 'With the Child's Perspective at the Center of Written Communication in Child Cases', which is part of the larger project "Child welfare records - Rights, support and the inclusion of children's voices" (www.rettentilegenhistorie.dk). The four year research project is carried out in collaboration between The Danish Welfare Museum , University College Copenhagen, The Danish National Archives , TABUKA and DAV. I among others develop social workers practice in good record creation with a specific focus on how to write respectfully about children, young people, and families, and how to involve children and young people in the preparation of written documentation. In 2022, I published the professional book "Blikke fra dem du skriver om - børn og unges aktindsigt" (Larsen 2022) and in 2024 the publication: 'Med barnet på skulderen. 9 skriftlighedsprincipper om at skrive sammen med og om børn og unge i udsatte positioner (Larsen, Svendsen, and Andersen). The books are aimed at both practice and education."

I have many years of research and practice-based knowledge in the field of child placement and disability, where I have conducted action research and method development projects, always with a strong focus on the child's/young person's perspective.
