Bjørn er faglig leder for FoU-satsningen i naturfagsdidaktik. Bjørns forskningsinteresse er bl.a. rettet mod at forstå talentbegrebet inden for naturfag og potentialer i arbejdet med talenter som målgruppe for undervisning. Aktuelt er Bjørn projektleder på et følge-forskningsprojekt, der undersøger praksiskoblinger mellem læreruddannelse og skole ifm. talentprogrammet i naturfag Copenhagen Honours College. Dette projekt gennemføres i samarbejde med KU. Derudover har Bjørn forsket i progression i naturfaglig undervisning og i fravalg og motivation i relation til naturfag. Bjørn har tidligere været ansat på KU (IND) og kommer senest fra en stilling som lektor på Göteborg Universitets læreruddannelse.
Bjørn er ansat i LU fra den 1/3 2019.
