Personal profile

Presentation

I am a qualitative research-oriented Cand.soc. and social worker with a strong interest in disability and employment studies.

Work areas

Since 2014, I have worked with children, young people and adults with intellectual, developmental and psychosocial disabilities, with particular experience in autism and intellectual disabilities. This practice-based experience has given me a nuanced understanding of the diverse needs of individuals and the importance of inclusive approaches.

My motivation to pursue research in disability and employment originated from these work experiences, where I came to understand that participation in the labour market is a key factor in enabling societal inclusion and social belonging — yet many people in this group remain excluded from employment.

Relevant experience includes working as a support mentor (SPS) for social work students with mental health challenges and disabilities, as well as serving as a board member and volunteer in LEV – The Danish National Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities.

Since 2021, I have focused on research activities and developed substantial expertise in qualitative methodologies. Previously, I have been a research assistant at Research Center for Disability and Employment at Aalborg University, where I led the qualitative component of a project examining employment among people with Cerebral Palsy.

Furthermore, I am a board member of the Nordic Network on Disability Research (NNDR Denmark).

Research and development areas

My primary research interest is in the field of disability-inclusive employment. This is closely linked to my PhD project, which explores organisational cultures that support the inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disability in retail settings.

The aim is to develop a practice-based inclusion model that can be implemented in the retail sector, adapted to other industries, and used by the Danish job centers to improve employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disability.

Competences

I have extensive experience with qualitative research methods, including the development of interview guides, conducting interviews, transcription, and thematic analysis. I am also experienced in writing national and international research articles and in preparing applications for research funding.
