Presentation
My academic background combines philosophy, mathematics, and logic, with a particular interest in applying mathematical-logical tools to philosophical questions. This has led me to explore areas such as the philosophy of language, the philosophy of mathematics, epistemology, and metaphysics. My Ph.D. research focused on mathematical models of logical consequence as it arises in natural languages.
Currently, my research centers on reasoning and proof in primary and lower secondary mathematics education, where I also have a focus on pre-service and in-service teachers' mathematical knowledge for teaching proof, and how this can be developed. I am also very interested in the theoretical underpinnings of mathematics content in primary education, as--in my view--a constant focus on applicability comes with the risk of neglecting the important role and nature of mathematics as the study of abstractions and as both a deductive and essentially creative science.
At KP, I also have the privelege of teaching pre-service teachers and engaging in ongoing discussions with students and colleagues about what constitutes effective mathematics teaching and why. This dynamic interplay between research and teaching inspires my work, as I strive to make mathematics both meaningful and approachable for future educators, future students, and future citizens.
