Research and development areas

In the early stages of my career, I focused on establishing methodologies across various domains within antibody technology, including phage display of antibodies, antibody expression in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, antibody purification, in vitro assays, and maternofetal transplacental transport of recombinant antibodies. My research primarily targeted blood type antigen RhD and malaria antigen MSP-3.

Antibodies against RhD demonstrated in vitro efficacy comparable to conventional Rhesus prophylaxis in preventing Hemolytic disease of the Fetus and Newborn. Antibodies against MSP-3 exhibited promising results, resulting in a global patent and the foundation of a company where I serve as the board chairman and co-founder.

In parallel, I contributed to developing methodologies for prenatal prediction of fetal blood types using qPCR and Next-Generation Sequencing, still in clinical use. I also delved into droplet digital PCR testing of donor derived cell-free DNA as a noninvasive marker for allograft health, nearing validation for clinical application.

 

Currently my research centers around hemostasis and Point-of-Care Testing (POCT). While investigating the impact of pneumatic tube transport on blood samples and its influence on global hemostasis and platelet function, I gained insights into the benefits of Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) as opposed to centralized testing.

Collaborating with various partners in POCT, I recently concluded a project, "Equality in health through self-monitoring of data," funded by Danish Life Science Cluster. This experience, coupled with my expertise, has fueled my plan to develop “Advanced POCT for Detecting Thrombotic Risk and Bleeding Tendencies”, combining my interests in POCT, hemostasis, and methodological innovation.
