Personal profile

Research and development areas

My research focuses on the intersections between mental health, identity, and social conditions, with a particular emphasis on early working life and well-being. My work primarily involves qualitative research designs at the intersection of anthropological and psychological theories.

I hold a PhD in Cultural Psychology from Aalborg University, where I was part of the interdisciplinary research project “Diagnosis Culture.” In this project, our research team examined the historical development of psychiatric diagnoses as well as individual experiences of being diagnosed. In my PhD project, I explored adults’ experiences of receiving a depression diagnosis and how diagnoses are navigated and interpreted in everyday life from a first-person perspective. The dissertation is based on fieldwork in Denmark, which includes interviews and participant observation.

I have extensive experience in interdisciplinary qualitative research from working at the Danish Centre for Youth Research (CeFU), and the Institute of Communication and Psychology at Aalborg University, including being PI on qualitative data collections. My professional experience as an employment specialist provides me with comprehensive insight into the work conditions of social workers.
