Abstract

Background
Danish prisons aim to motivate prisoners to become law‐abiding citizens. Studies show that ex‐prisoners are at the highest risk for recidivism the first six months of being released. International studies indicate that this is due to the following challenges: employment, finances, family support and substance abuse.
However, little is known about which challenges Danish ex‐prisoners experience when re‐entering the society.
