Abstract

In this chapter we try to outline some of the dynamics dermining the pattern of volunteering among women and men in the Scandinavian welfare systems. The systems are characterized in the comparative welfare research as highly organized state-based welfare systems with only restricted involvement of private for-profit and non-profit organizations in production of welfare.
